Kris Coperine

Executive Director

With more than 15 years of experience in sustainability, Kris has worked extensively across both for-profit and nonprofit sectors. Prior to her current role as Executive Director at WPA, which she assumed in January 2025, Kris served as a Circular Economy Specialist in Public Affairs at NatureWorks, a leading global biopolymer supplier. Her expertise lies in facilitating cross-value chain partnerships that enable sustainable and circular end-of-life product management, with particular focus on recycling and composting solutions.

Kris holds a BA in Geography from the University of Minnesota and an International MBA from the University of Denver, complemented by a specialized certificate in Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies from the University of Cambridge. Her professional credentials include LEED Green Associate, Certified Associate in Project Management, and TRUE Waste Advisor certifications. Her diverse industry background encompasses biopolymers, compostable materials, universal waste recycling, commercial property management, nonprofit organizations, and operational experience across restaurant, grocery, and retail sectors.
