Membership
Mission
Our goal is to create a unifying force for the industry in the Western States and the following Canadian Provinces: British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario. We educate policy makers and the public about the positive economic impact of the industry and the environmental benefits of our products through programs, newsletters, outreach and the media. WPA works with national groups on legislative and industry issues that our members are concerned about.
Why Join WPA
- Legislative Representation & Reporting: As the unifying magnet for the plastics industry in the West, WPA provides governmental representation for California on a weekly basis and in the other western states and Canadian provinces when issues arise that are a priority to the members of the industry. Members are advised on new and potentially opposing legislation with the help of our team of bill trackers from Serlin Haley and lobbyists at Houston Magnani. We are currently covering extensive reporting on all single-use plastic, bags, labeling, packaging, PFAS-related regulations as well as EPR nationwide. WPA actively promotes the benefits of plastics and the industry to legislators and regulators.
- Networking Opportunities: Quarterly meetings are held and participation includes plastic producers, converters, suppliers, and downstream customers within the plastics industry. Each meeting includes a legislative update on policies affecting your bottom line. Industry presentations have focused on topics including transportation, work force, resin, employment issues, electricity costs, mergers, PCR and Retailer/Brand owner direction. Members are provided with the opportunity to network a minimum of six times per year throughout various locations in the West and British Columbia.
- Membership: To achieve the goal of a unified industry, WPA members must have a strong voice for the plastics industry and related legislation. In order to be a regional force, there is direct and frequent communication with WPA member companies and downstream customers. Information is constantly made available to the membership through Programs, Newsletters and our Resource Hub on new technology, products, innovative solutions and legislation.
